Creating Happiness
Creating Happiness
Happiness is a feeling that seems to be controlled by the external environment. People base their emotions on how things are going around them. What you must realize is that happiness is created from the inside. Happiness synthesis takes place within the brain. It is all about perception of your external environment.
Therefore, if one changes their perception of what they see, they can change the status of their internal environment. It seems difficult. You might say, “How can you just tell yourself that you’re happy?” You can’t just tell yourself, that’s the thing. You must convince yourself.
Let’s talk about what drives happy emotions. Typically, happiness is driven by increased endorphins, increased dopamine, and increased serotonin. So if you dive into what gives you each of those things, you can key in on what makes you happy.
These three hormones account for the majority of our happiness. Dopamine makes you feel good, serotonin regulates your mood, and endorphins relieve pain. If you allow them to live in the best mental environment, they will do their job.
Your mental environment is controlled by your thoughts. If you think something is going to be bad, your body will start preparing for the worst. It will create more stress, your heart rate will go up, and your blood pressure will spike. This is all because you indicated to your body, with your mind, that things are going to get tough.
Think about what would happen if you approached that situation differently. If you had told yourself the situation won’t be that bad, none of these biological responses would happen and your good hormones would continue doing their thing.
You must convince yourself that you are safe. Your body goes into high alert when it feels it’s unsafe. You must take deep breaths, control your thoughts of negativity, and think about the positive.
Once you have mastered the art of positive perception, you will feel happy much more often. Your body will react to the way you perceive things. But your perception can only be controlled by the mind.
