Savor every moment
Savor every moment
I want you to imagine where you were a year ago today. Imagine what you looked like, how your day was constructed, what your outlook on life was, what your habits were. Now where are you today? Are you better? Have you accomplished more?
If you are like me and most others, you are in a better spot today, you have improved. You might look back and think that you wish you were still in that moment, but you must realize that moment got you to where you are now, and if you went back, you would be erasing a year of progress.
We make progress whether we think we do or not. We continue to learn everyday, even if part of the learning is painful. You may be in a shitty situation right now and look forward to the day where it is all over. What you must realize is that the moment you are in now, is going to make that moment that much better. You must appreciate where you are now, to appreciate where you are later.
We only have so much time. The mind is constantly looking back at the past either in regret, or with reminiscence. It also looks to the future in anticipation and eagerness. But we so frequently overlook the moment we are currently living. This moment that you are in right now was dictated by your past actions, and will dictate your future actions. Live now. Focus on your present actions before looking to the past or the future. Savor every moment and realize they don’t last forever.
