Importance of the beginning

 Importance of the beginning

Without a solid start, momentum can not be built, and there is no hope for a successful finish. That is why we must create a solid beginning to anything we do. No matter what it is, the beginning and the way we start is absolutely crucial for how the entire process goes.

There are 3 major timelines that I consider to have very crucial beginnings. The 3 that come to my head are the daily timeline, the weekly timeline, and the yearly timeline. As humans, we like a fresh start. For some reason, the beginning of the year seems like a much more appealing place to begin than the middle of a month in the middle of the year. That is why we must prepare for these beginnings.

The daily timeline has the shortest turnaround. Every single morning you make choices on how your entire day will go. That is why it is so important that you prepare for a successful day. This requires us to set up for it the day before. Going to bed late or indulging in alcohol the night before have major impacts on how the day will go. Have a routine in place for each morning so you can create a successful beginning to each day. Without a habitual set of actions each morning, it is impossible to guarantee each day will have a successful beginning.

The next timeline I use is the weekly timeline. Each week I develop goals for myself that I want to achieve by certain points in the week. Everyday comes down to the morning, but the first couple days of the week as a whole, influence the outlook of the entire week. For me, I have made sure to make sure my Monday is the most productive day of the week. I very rarely do things on Monday that are laxed. To do this, I set notifications to make sure each action is planned. When my Mondays go well, this momentum leads into Tuesday and Wednesday and so on. Soon enough, my entire week has been built into a productive, constructive week that is working toward my ultimate goal.

Lastly, the yearly timeline. The year is the hardest timeline in my opinion. Typically, humans develop huge, unreachable goals for the year that they know in advance that they won’t achieve. This is a huge mistake because it simply makes us feel like failures when we can’t achieve these goals. Once you feel like you have failed for the year, you basically give up on the year and wait til next year. Instead, when developing yearly goals, build daily goals first, weekly goals second, and then figure out what you want these goals to work toward for the year. Or, break it down the other way. Think of goals for the year, then figure out what you will do each day, or week to work toward these goals. Everything has to go hand in hand.

By developing common goals for each timeline, you are augmenting your chances for achievement. But it all comes down to how you start. Focus on the systems you have set up for the beginning of each timeline. A great start is the only way to get to a great finish.

~Thank you for reading. My goal is to help teach others ways to better themselves while doing the same for myself. This is The Exploration.~
