Optimize fear

 Optimize fear

It is holding you back. It is keeping you from becoming the person you can be. It is a limitation that you must break through. It is fear.

We all feel fear. Fear is a major reason why we avoid change. But change is the only way to become better. Change is what makes us better. Every new opportunity will give you a rush, that rush is adrenaline which typically means that you are anxious about something. Adrenaline triggers your body to jump into survival mode. In survival mode, that is when you can grow. In the face of fear, you grow more than ever. Today, I want to teach you to optimize fear.

That feeling of uneasiness in your stomach when faced with something that you are not accustomed to is the feeling of fear. Think back to every single time you have experienced that feeling. That is what you felt on your first date. That is what you felt on the first day of your career. That is what you felt your first time being somewhere new. Your body was not prepared for the situation, but what happened after that feeling of uneasiness? Most of the time, the fear we felt was followed by something life changing.

Fear initiates growth. Every single time you change something in your life, you will feel fear. We are creatures of habit and we fear what will happen if we break that habit. But you should also fear what will happen if you don’t. What will happen if you don’t change should scare you more than the change itself. Be afraid of not living up to your potential. Be afraid of not taking risks. Be afraid of not doing it. Fear initiates growth, but if we don’t let it initiate growth, it causes regret.

Being scared of new situations is what will haunt you years later. “I wish I had done (blank) earlier.” It is a phrase we tell ourselves all too often. Why didn’t you do that thing? Because you were scared. You were scared of what could happen. What could happen could also be the best thing that ever happened but you will never know unless you try to find out.

I lived most of my life in fear. Fear of what could happen. Now I regret always being scared. I am more scared of what I will miss out on if I don’t start taking action. Take action and avoid regret. Let that feeling of uneasiness drive you and the feeling of regret scare you. Make fear your motivator.

~Thank you for reading. My goal is to help teach others ways to better themselves while doing the same for myself. This is The Exploration.~
