Appreciation
“A person’s greatest need is the need to feel important.”
If you look at the single best attribute of someone who is well-liked, what do you think it is?
Appreciation.
Telling others what we find valuable about them makes them feel important. It makes them want to spend time around you because they know that you care. It makes them feel important.
Oftentimes, it is hard for us to say the positive things when they are on our minds and easy to say the negative things. If you change your focus to only complimenting and never criticizing, the people will flock to you. You will have more friends than you could ever imagine.
Key: Compliment don’t criticize.
Making people feel bad about themselves does nothing for you and does more harm than you think for them. It takes quite a few positive comments to amend a negative comment. Negativity digs deep into a person. They remember when something makes them feel sad.
Make it your effort to appreciate the people around you. Look for what each person has to bring to the table and make it known. Show those closest to you how much they mean to you. In return, you will feel better, and you will gain their trust.
