 Change your trajectory


At a certain age, it seems to become apparent where your life is headed. Critical decisions have been made that dictate the outlook of your life. But you become bored and life becomes stale. You start going through the motions and tell yourself “it is what it is.” But it’s not. Life will take you where you let it if you let it. So don’t let it. Change the trajectory of your life and go where you want to go.


The first key to controlling your trajectory is being the one who makes the decisions. Major decisions in your life should be your decision and only your decision. When you let others influence where you go, you are losing control. Be the pilot of your own plane. Don’t board and expect someone else to bring you where you want to go. 


Each decision you make each day has an influence on your life. Small decisions still play a major role in who you become. Knowing this, start casting votes for the person you wish to become. The more votes you cast for that person you wish to be, the more likely that person is to win. If your life is taking you somewhere you don’t want to go, start making small decisions that support the opposite direction. Small habits go a long way to become who you wish to become, but sometimes, big changes need to be made.


Big, life-changing changes need to be made to change your trajectory. For example, cutting someone off, moving from your home, or starting a new job may all be required to fulfill your goals. These decisions are not easy to make but at a certain point in time it begins to feel like they need to happen. You know these need to happen when you make your own decisions, and you are making atomic changes to yourself but nothing is happening. It feels like something is still missing. 


Analyze where you want to go. Change your direction and go. Nobody is holding you back but you. Change your trajectory and live the life you wish to live.

  “You coming or what!?” My sunburnt eyelids slowly opened to the same bright sun as always. Half my body hung over the side of the bus stop bench. I still felt hazy from last night’s fix. “Dude, I’m doing you a favor here!” I looked up to be blinded by a bright red car holding up traffic at the intersection.
