Death by association

“Attitude is greatly shaped by influence and association.”

The people around you are leading you to your death, it is just a matter of how fast you get there.

Extremely bleak thing to say, I know. But in reality, it is the truth. We will all die someday.

Knowing that there is an end, wouldn’t you rather live as much as you can before that?

Of course. We all want to live our fullest life possible.

So ask yourself, what people are taking the life out of you?

Contemplate it for a second.

If you spend your time with low lifes, you will indeed become a low life. If you spend your time with alcoholics, more than likely you will become an alcoholic. If you spend your time with negative people, I’m sure you’re a negative person.

By choosing to spend your life with people who hold you back, you are dying from association.

I have personally found myself trapped in death by association instances. I have seen certain friends form into someone that I no longer want to be around, but what do I do? I continue being their friend because I am comfortable with them. I make the decisions they are making, I waste time with them, I destroy my progress with them.

At some point, you have to disassociate.

Now ask yourself another question:

Who makes your decisions?

It is in bold because it is important. Think about it for a second.

Are you truly making your own decisions? Or are your decisions made by the people around you? Who is influencing you?

You are extremely influenced by the world around you. You may say that you don’t have a choice, but the truth is, you have all the choice. The big key here:

Be aware.

The only way you can control your influence is if you are aware of it. Analyze, evaluate, dissect, and recall every single moment that you experience. Decode the meaning of it. Decode the influence of it. Figure out how it impacts you.

Becoming more aware is the only way of figuring out that you are actually dying from associating with bad people. Ignorance blinds you from seeing what is right in front of you. You are not letting yourself see that you can make the change you need. Nobody else can control what is going on in your life.

If you feel like your life is being taken away from you, become aware of what is going on around you and inside of you. Dig deep to figure out what you really want, and cut out the things you don’t want. Disassociate from the people who are killing you.

Don’t let your life slip away because you are too ignorant to recognize it.
