Distractions
“There are always distractions if you allow them.”
Distractions will ruin your life if you let them. First off let’s start by defining a distraction.
Definition: Dis·trac·tion /dəˈstrakSH(ə)n/
1. a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.
Ask yourself, what is drawing your attention away from what is important? What is stealing your effort? What is preventing you from accomplishing what you wish to accomplish?
I have many distractions, and I used to have more. Every waking instant of the day I would think about something other than the task at hand. I soon realized the effort I was putting into the things in front of me was nowhere near the best I could do. I was wasting my time thinking about things that didn’t matter.
Now, I still have distractions, but I have learned to control them. I have learned to keep my eyes and mind on what is important. I have created a formula (will be shared later) that keeps my mind focused on the things important to me.
Instead of disregarding my distractions, I acknowledge them, and choose to ignore them. By recognizing the things that hold you back, you are able to face them better. You know that they are holding you back, so why would you give them time?
Key: Don’t run from your distractions, face them.
Running from your distractions simply allows them to creep up on you until the moment you slip up, then they all reappear. If you face what is distracting you, you can defeat it once and for all.
To create success, we need to put our full effort into the things that matter. Prioritize the most important things in your life and pour your time and effort into those things.
Action: Create a list of things you wish to accomplish, then create a list of things that keep you from accomplishing those things. Put it in a spot where you see it everyday, and review it everyday.
Quit putting it off. Cut off your distractions now before they consume you entirely. You are missing out on your full potential because you are too scared to face your struggles.
