 “You are a product of your environment.”

The number one resource a person can have is another person. We are surrounded by resources, it is just a matter of choosing the right ones to have around. 

Sometimes your vision gets blurry and the things that you should see are clouded by opinions that simply don’t matter. I have let some very important people disappear from my life because I was too scared to tell them that I believed them when nobody else did. Making decisions based on the opinions of others is a terrible habit. When the preconceived ideas of others have more say than you do, you have lost control of your life.

Other times, I have let my closest friends influence me. They say that a certain person is not worth the time, or they are crazy. I have begun to separate myself from those thoughts, and those people. I pursue what I want. I see the light in people when nobody else does.

People make assumptions based on their own views. If you have friends that are staying comfortable and afraid that you will grow with new friends, cut them off. They are not worth keeping around. It is a tough thing to do because we want to bring the people that mean the most to us with us on the road to success. But if they are simply holding you back, you need to cut ties.

As I mature, the people that truly do matter are becoming more obvious. I have discovered my own goals and am attracted more to the people who have goals that align.

The most important part though is to use these kinds of people to your advantage. When you have a dream and somebody else shares it, sharpen each other. Build off each other and work your way to the top. We are surrounded by so many valuable people who are great resources if we let them be.

Don’t be scared to stray from what you’re used to. Be different and align yourself with the people that will help you get where you want.
