 Seek to understand 


“There is power in understanding the journey of others to help create your own.”


Water put inside of any container forms to the shape of its container. Ice, on the other hand, will not form into any container. But, with some change in condition, ice can become water. Therefore, it will form into the container it is in.


Obviously a metaphor is buried in here:


Ice=closed mind.

Water=open mind.


The reason this metaphor is perfect is because it shows how easily a mind can change. Every closed mind has the ability to be opened, just like all ice can form into water. But the conditions must change. A catalyst must be added into the equation to turn ice into water.


The most interesting thing about the mind is that it can be its own catalyst.


The mind has complete free will. It may dream as it wants, think as it wants, feel as it wants. There is no bound on what the mind can do. The mind can be opened to understanding just as easily as ice can be melted. 


To access this ability, the mind must recognize WHY understanding is important.


You must tap into what makes every being feel fulfilled.


When looking at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, you can see that there are 5 categories of human needs.


  1. Physiological

  2. Safety

  3. Relationships

  4. Esteem

  5. Self-actualization


For most of you, your first couple categories of needs are met naturally, because you are blessed.


But the place where most people struggle is finding a way to fulfill the last 3 categories: relationships, esteem, self-actualization.


By having an open mind, you can cure all 3. Having an open mind keeps you capable of forming new, fulfilling relationships, it allows you to form respect for others, and it helps you find the things that truly make you happy.


Self-actualization is by far the hardest need to fulfill. 


Personally, I feel like I will be most fulfilled if I feel like I have left a legacy. My purpose has become to make a positive impact on others enough to leave a legacy.


If I achieve this, my full potential will be met.


I have realized that if I am ever to make a difference to others, I must force myself to understand their perspective. Without a full understanding of another person’s perspective, you will never be able to truly influence. They cannot understand you until you understand them.


PURPOSE=INSPIRE.


Just like every good book, every single person has a purpose in life. 


Learn more and you will discover your purpose.


Keep an open mind. Seek to understand.

  “You coming or what!?” My sunburnt eyelids slowly opened to the same bright sun as always. Half my body hung over the side of the bus stop bench.
