Edge of a season

“Don’t lose sight of the current season as the next one approaches.”

Winter is the working season.

It is the season to suck it up and endure.

It is the season to pour effort into yourself.

It is the season of limited distractions and positive change.

But as winter winds down, don’t let the idea of spring change your behavior. Instead, slowly transform the winter mindset so it works better with spring. It is difficult not to get a small sense of spring and completely ditch the habits and rituals you have formed during the long winter. If you want to succeed in spring like you have in winter, you must ignore the feeling of the season and embrace the feeling of change.

Certain seasons in life will remind you of comfort and happiness. You will want to stay in those seasons forever. But the more you accustom yourself to the feeling of warm weather in summer, the harder the winters become. If you adapt your winter mindset and bring it into the warm seasons, you will never feel the effects of a violent seasonal change.

Don’t let the seasons affect you.

Most people wait for the seasons to change and believe that this will create a change in them. The truth is, the seasons will always change. But you won’t change unless you decide to. It is not up to the seasons to decide the path you choose to take. It is up to you.

“Once the winter is over…”

Don’t let the winter end. Embrace what you became in the winter and let it take you through the rest of the year and make you even stronger for next winter. Enjoy the warmth that summer gives you, but remember how fast winter can come, and be prepared for it.

I used to always tell myself, “I can’t do this now, it’s too cold” or I’d say “Once the weather is warmer…” But when the time came around, what I said I was going to do still didn’t happen. In fact, it only got harder to achieve. The warmth of summer makes you slide further into a state of comfort. It makes you lose sight of the hard times and makes you think that it’ll be warm forever. An endless summer.

A mind primed for summer is a mind unprepared for winter.

A mind that is expecting summer is a mind that will be dismantled by winter. It will be shocked by the cold left without a jacket to shield it from the wind and left to freeze.

Don’t prepare yourself for summer.

Prepare yourself for a long winter.

But enjoy the warm weather when it comes.
