 She didn’t know what she was doing

But never let you know

She got frustrated with you

But never let it show

She gave up her dreams

So she could help yours grow

She’ll always love you

Even when you don’t

She always has food made for you, even when you don’t ask. 

She’ll bring it down to the dugout for you wrapped in tin foil. 

She’ll make everyone ask “what restaurant is that from?”

You’ll say “it’s from the kitchen of my mom.”

She’s your biggest fan even when you suck.

She’ll wear your name on her shirt and show it off to all.

She’s proud of who you are even when you’re not.

When you come home, there will always be cookies in the jar, and coffee in the pot.

The lamp is always on

Until you get home

She likes to know you’re there

Even when you’re grown

Sometimes you find her

Sleeping on the couch

But she always wakes up

Whenever you need to talk

She tells you you look great

Even when you don’t

She’ll talk you up to her friends

Even when she shouldn’t

She walks around at work

With pictures on her phone

Of the boys she made

All tall and grown

She lights up when you call her

She listens when you talk

She will make you feel better

When you don’t feel so hot

Warm milk in your cup

With honey to make it sweet

When your throat hurts in the morning

And you can’t get on your feet

She feeds you when you’re hungry

Always with your favorite meal

Makes you feel special on your birthday

Even when you’re 23

She smiles when she sees you

She laughs when you’re home

She loves to be around you

She cries when you go

She doesn’t realize it

But she made me who I am

The constant motivation

The love she always shows

Is the reason I keep going

Is the reason I am strong

Is the reason I feel emotion

Is the reason I belong

Is the reason I am happy

Is the reason I am calm

Is the reason I will call her

Every time I miss home

She likes you when you don’t

She listens when they won’t

She always knows what to say

And she has since you were young

She’s the reason I am wiser

Than most people my age
