 Live in the moment


Moments flee faster when you don’t appreciate them. Some of the best moments of my life have happened so fast that I hardly remember them. I never fully was able to grasp the significance of the moment. Now being at such a different stage of life, I have learned to live in the present because the future is fake and the past is unchangeable.


Why is the future fake? The future is fake because you can imagine it being whatever you want it to be. The truth is, it will never be what you expect it to be. You can only envision what it may be. If you do choose to envision your future, envision it being the best it possibly can be. Make your future a dream scenario. If you understand that the future is fantasy but envision it being the best it can be, it will be better than having a negative outlook on your future.


The past is unchangeable. What is done cannot be undone. The past is simply a part of your story, what happened was meant to happen and it has completely molded who you are today. The past haunts many people. Images of what life could’ve been run through the minds of many. These thoughts do nothing for our growth. Could you have done things differently and been in a different situation? 100%. But what you did got you to where you are today, and you should be happy about that. You should be happy because a.) you are content in your current situation or b.) you’re in a shitty situation but now you have the opportunity to turn things around. 


The mind determines the perception of the past, present, and future. How your mind portrays the past influences how you grow from it. How your mind lives in the present determines how much potential for future growth you have. How your mind envisions the future becomes a mountain peak that your present self is climbing toward. The higher the aspirations, the higher you’ll climb. 


Every single moment has a meaning. Don’t ever take the little moments for granted. Every action has some sort of outcome. Create a mindset of gratitude and appreciation for every second you’ve lived, are living, and will live, and I guarantee you will be happier.

  “You coming or what!?” My sunburnt eyelids slowly opened to the same bright sun as always. Half my body hung over the side of the bus stop bench. I still felt hazy from last night’s fix. “Dude, I’m doing you a favor here!” I looked up to be blinded by a bright red car holding up traffic at the intersection. Horns were blaring behind him as he scolded me from the car.
