Get back on track

 Get back on track

There is nothing worse you can do for your progress than get off track and be upset at yourself about it. Times will come that you will lose your way. But rather than making no progress for the days after because you are upset you lost your ground, get right back on track.

One bad day used to throw off my entire week. I used to let a break in a streak ruin my habits for the upcoming days. I would give in to a bad habit and continue to give in again and again because I had already given in once. I knew I had to find a way to stop going backward and start going forward again.

Now, I have a plan to get back on track. Here are a couple things that I do to start making progress again when I break off.

First of all, rather than thinking back to what went wrong, recognize it, think about why it wasn’t good, and get over it. You might have screwed up, but thinking about the mistakes you made, think of how you can come back from it. It’s not about how hard you fall, but it’s about how fast you get back up.

Second, review goals. This goes back to writing your goals down Finding your why). When you review your goals often, it allows you to get back on track faster. Your goals are a road map with your destination on it. With no destination, how can you know where you are going? Always have a destination on your route and review it often.

Lastly, remember the pain. Always think back to how it felt to fail. Remember the feeling of losing your way. Without the pain we feel when things go wrong, we don’t feel the motivation to get back on the right track.

Recognize the failure, review your goals, remember the pain and most importantly, get back on track. This is how you continue making progress.

~Thank you for reading. My goal is to help teach others ways to better themselves while doing the same for myself. This is The Exploration.~
