Social Exposure

 Social Exposure

To truly comprehend our personal situation we must have some exposure to the public. What does this mean? Your perspective on how successful you are, how you look, and much more is completely dictated by what you see around you. This is not necessarily ideal, but it is true.

I have heard the anaphora “only compare you to you” a million times. This is a true statement when you look at growth and progress. Yes, your personal accomplishments should only be compared to those of yourself. But, how can we truly appreciate who we are without some exposure to the public?

Living in solidarity does provide peace and a stillness that is not present in the living world. But we must take time to see a different life from a different point of view. Traveling to see other regions that you have never explored is crucial for developing gratitude; both gratitude for what you have and gratitude for who you are.

Create a scope to look through that allows you to see life how it is, but avoid comparing the life of others to your own. Look at life as a way to grow the way you think, the way you act, and the way you see. The more I have exposed myself to new social situations, the more I have developed my comprehension of myself. It seems strange that self-reflection can develop from looking at others, but if you look at others through a self-reflective lens, you see things you have never seen.

I encourage you to do this next time you are around others. Ask yourself what makes others more attractive, or more personable, or more successful. It is all traceable. We do not see everything that goes on behind the scenes, but we see how they act in social settings and that provides enough information to work from.

Branch out as much as you can into new social situations. Develop your perspective of how you see yourself by looking deeper into others. Continue to grow yourself and your understanding of the game we call life.
