Becoming an esteemed individual

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

Studying the demeanors of successful people helps you figure out a lot. When you look at them, people who are successful are not successful because of what they have done, but successful because of what they have chosen not to do time after time.

What do I mean by this?

CHOOSING TO DO THE THINGS THAT MOST PEOPLE DO MAKES YOU JUST LIKE MOST PEOPLE.

If everyone chose to NOT do what the crowd is doing, there might be a lot more successful people. But that is what separates success vs mediocrity.

Successful people hold themselves differently. They hold themselves in a way that says “I’ve done the work.” You gain respect for someone who you know does something you don’t want to do. For example, society has respect for people who are in tremendous physical shape because everyone knows it takes WORK to look like they do.

I have seen this change begin to take place in my own life. I have gained self-confidence and self-esteem through the changes I have made to my lifestyle and my mindset. But I have never demanded respect from others. I live by the idea that respect is earned, not given. If I am going to gain respect, I need to prove myself. But I have seen it more and more that people are beginning to automatically respect me.

It could be because they see the work I have put into myself and respect it. It is fairly easy to break down a person’s habits just by studying them for a few hours. When you see habits in somebody that you wish you had, you gain respect.

TREATING YOURSELF DIFFERENTLY WILL MAKE OTHERS TREAT YOU DIFFERENTLY.

Now, my good friends understand my goals and my work ethic. They respect my discipline and understand when I do not take part in certain activities. They have come to respect me more because of the self-discipline I have shown year after year.

People who are highly regarded show the same traits:

  1. Self-discipline

  2. Confidence

  3. Dedication

  4. Patience

  5. Control

It is not easy to be in the top 1%.

It takes constant self-discipline, confidence, dedication, patience and self-control.

Most people know exactly what they need to do to be successful. They have the answers to the test, but they lack the effort. They don’t feel like being different from everyone else. They want to be in the crowd, not on the stage.

It takes years to gain the constant respect of others. But once you do, there are other things that start coming. You now have the ability to strongly influence the lives of others. People listen when you talk. People take your advice to heart. People respect your opinions deeply. People seek your approval.

This is all a result of status.

Status is simply obtained by doing what others are not willing to do.

It is that easy.

Do what others won’t do, and they will respect you.

That is how you become an esteemed individual.
