Arrival

 Arrival

It is hard to arrive

At a specific moment in time

But I guess I’ll try

Let me help you deep dive

To the depths of your mind

Drop all your baggage

You won’t need it for this flight

Because we’re going to go

Somewhere further

That you didn’t even know

You could access

But it is time for you to k n o w

In order for me

To find moments in my head

I have to recreate a feeling

While I’m laying in bed

Relax, lay down for a sec

Put in some earbuds

And leave all your stress

Open up your music

Here’s the tune

Just like you by Sumbuck

Now let it take you

To a memory

Unique to you

Certain songs take me back to certain times

But this song, brought me back to places in time

When I heard it the first time

Some sounds just make life simpler

Too much noise takes away your ability to enjoy

The small joys of each day

Like when I was a little boy

Laying in the grass

I’d watch the clouds pass

And listen to the chickadees

As they’d sing for me

The only time I get sad

Is when I realize

I’ve lost my ability to relax

And fully be present

In the place I’m at

Every memory I attempt to rehash

Was a moment I was completely

At peace with where I was at

And I didn’t realize it then

Because I was lost in the moment

But I wasn’t really lost

Because now I continue to find

Memories deep inside my mind

The more I lose myself

And become lost in time

It’s a difficult feeling

Something hard to describe

But by just writing it down

I feel my heart rate lower

And find peace in my mind

Then I ask myself

“Why does my writing have to rhyme?”

It doesn’t

It just makes it easier to come back to

And read from time to time

Continue finding moments to reflect on

Continue finding memories you thought you lost over time

And I’ll do my best to remind you

It’s okay to just lay down

And close your eyes

And turn on some music

That reminds you that you’re alive

Not just a being

That lives so it can die.
